Designing human approval into agent workflows
Approval is not a temporary limitation. Used well, it is a product feature that builds trust and better data.
Human approval should appear where risk changes—not after every small action. Define clear thresholds for money, customer commitments, sensitive data, and irreversible changes.
Give reviewers the context they need: the source inputs, the proposed action, the agent's confidence, and a concise explanation. Approval becomes fast when the interface is designed around the decision.
Every correction is also training data. Capture why a suggestion changed, then feed those patterns into prompts, policies, and evaluations.
